The American Board of Radiology demands a significant amount of training in order to be a certified radiologist. Diagnostic radiologists endure 4 years of medical school, followed by five years of post-grad work. Due to the competition in the field and the necessary traiing, good Radiologists are hard to come by, and demand adequate compensation.

...The number of OB/GYNs in the state has dropped by more than a third since 2004, while another third expect to stop practicing obstetrics in 2008. Anesthesiologists and radiologists are moving to states with lower malpractice rates and higher reimbursements as Maryland is one of the worst states in both respects...
